Welcome to my teaching portfolio! I am beyond excited to share my teaching experiences as a PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Resident with Topeka Pharmacy and Purdue University College of Pharmacy. I have been fortunate to have several teaching experiences, from the first-ever Tobacco Cessation and Counseling appointment at Topeka Pharmacy, to restructuring didactic lectures in key courses at Purdue University, and developing new learning materials for APPE students.
I am a Chicagoland native, and completed all of my coursework for my Doctor of Pharmacy at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. In my time at Butler, I had many opportunities to further explore teaching. I worked as a certified personal trainer for almost all 6 years where I taught clients one-on-one how to develop fitness goals and execute them. I am still in contact with some of my clients today!
I also worked as a counseling lab assistant in the Dosage Forms lab series, as well as completed an APPE rotation in Academia. During my residency, I have had ample opportunities to lecture, both at Purdue as well as my alma mater, assist with labs, precept APPE students, as well as serve as a mentor through my involvement with the Purdue student chapter of APhA as a New Practitioner Mentor. All of these experiences cemented my interest in teaching the next generation of pharmacists. I am passionate about the outpatient pharmacy setting and advancing pharmacists' roles in this setting, as well as educating future pharmacists on the opportunities and impact they can and will make one day. I am very excited to announce I will be continuing my education with Purdue University as a Community Practice Research Fellow under Dr. Margie Snyder next year. My ultimate career goal is to obtain an Assistant Professor position at a college of pharmacy with a clinical practice site in a community-based pharmacy.
